The Gilded Age Season 4 has just received a major update. The successful period drama, originally envisioned as taking place within the Downton Abbey universe, has added four new stars to its cast and dropped the official logline for its next season.
According to Deadline, Jim Gaffigan (Chappaquiddick), Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line), Elizabeth Marvel (Presumed Innocent), and Andrew Burnap (Snow White) have joined the cast of The Gilded Age Season 4 as guest stars. Additionally, Kelley Curran, who has played Enid "Turner" Winterton since the HBO show's inception, has been promoted to the main cast for Season 4. Who Are the New Gilded Age Additions Playing? Gaffigan and Roberts have been cast as real-life political figures, Grover Cleveland, the 22nd President of the United States, and Daniel Manning, Secretary of the Treasury under President Cleveland, respectively.
In The Gilded Age Season 4, President Cleveland will come to New York to curry favor with the elite class. As for Marvel, she has been cast as Virginia Saville, a kind nurse who works at the Neighborhood Settlement House in the Lower East Side. Burnap, meanwhile, will portray Porter, a young gentleman of Society with an Ivy League education and money to invest in exciting new ventures. They join a returning cast that includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Taissa Farmiga, and Audra McDonald, among others.
The Gilded Age Season 4 Plot Revealed The official Season 4 logline for The Gilded Age has also been revealed and reads as follows: "Bertha Russell (Coon) changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position." "Meanwhile, Marian (Jacobson) forges a new path for herself and Peggy (Denée Benton) works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for," concludes the logline. The Gilded Age was created by Julian Fellowes.
The series was initially conceived as a prequel to Fellowes' other hit period drama, Downton Abbey, and was set to explore Lord Grantham and Cora's romance and eventual marriage as the Earl and Countess of Grantham. However, as development progressed, The Gilded Age's connections to Downton Abbey were dropped in favor of telling a self-contained, standalone story, although Fellowes hasn't ruled out the possibility of eventually tying the HBO series into the world of hit British period drama.
