He shared, "For the first film, I researched the subject for 10 years. I could stand by every word and visual in that film. If the sequel expands beyond Kerala into other states, I cannot rely on WhatsApp forwards or newspaper reports. Sensitive subjects require deep research and long-term study.

Without that foundation, I wouldn't feel responsible enough to direct it." Meanwhile, The Kerala Story 2, starring Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha, recently received a U/A certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) amid the ongoing controversy. The makers are quite happy with the decision as they think it will help the film to reach the right audience. But Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticised the film for 'spreading false propaganda'. The story of the second part revolves around young girls and how their lives take a scary turn after they fall in love with muslim boys.
